Check the report before you head out

Start with your chosen mountain’s latest operating report. Look at the time it was updated, the lifts running, the trails open and the terrain that suits your group. A snowfall total alone does not tell you whether your preferred trails are available.

This page brings together report sources and planning advice. Snow totals and operating status are supplied by those sources; We Love Vermont does not independently measure conditions or promise a daily update. Recheck the resort report before leaving and again when you arrive.

START WITH THE LATEST SOURCE REPORT

Vermont ski and snow reports

The SkiCentral report below is the third-party source used on the original page. Check each listing’s date and follow the resort’s own report for the most relevant operating details. During the off-season, providers may show closed areas, older winter reports or summer activities.

Report not displaying? Use the direct report buttons above. The provider or your browser may restrict embedded pages. Scroll inside the report to see additional listings; use its full-page version for more space.

GO DIRECTLY TO THE MOUNTAIN

Official resort report links

Use these shortcuts to selected Vermont ski areas. This is not a complete directory; the statewide resources above help you explore more locations. A snow report and a lift-status page may be separate, so check both when planning your day.

READ BEYOND THE SNOW TOTAL

What to look for in a ski report

Snowfall & surface descriptions

Compare like-for-like reporting periods: a 24-hour snowfall figure is different from a storm total or season total. Check where the measurement was taken and whether it applies to the area you intend to ski.

Read the surface description and grooming notes alongside the numbers. Reported conditions describe a point in time; your experience can change with weather, traffic and the part of the mountain you visit.

Open terrain & lift operations

Look for open trails appropriate to your ability, not just the total count. Confirm that the lifts serving those trails are operating and read notes about delayed openings, holds or closures.

For a beginner day, check learning-area operations and your lesson arrangements directly. Follow resort signs and staff instructions when you arrive; a saved report does not override an on-mountain closure.

PLAN THE WHOLE JOURNEY

Weather, roads & your ski-day checklist

Mountain conditions and the drive to the resort are separate checks. Review the resort forecast and your travel route before leaving. Allow extra time for winter travel, parking and equipment pickup so you are not rushing to a lesson or meeting point.

  • The evening before: review reservations, rentals, lesson times and cancellation policies.
  • Before departure: recheck the operating report, weather and road information.
  • On arrival: look at the latest lift and trail status and ask staff about changes affecting your plans.
  • During the day: adjust your terrain choices and schedule to the conditions and your group’s energy.

Keep a flexible alternative in mind. A village visit or another winter activity can help you enjoy the day if your original mountain plans change.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT TYPE OF REPORT

Planning a cross-country ski day?

Use the Nordic center’s own trail report for cross-country skiing. An alpine resort’s snowfall or lift report does not establish which Nordic loops are open or groomed.

Check the trails available for your preferred technique, current grooming information, rental arrangements and the visitor schedule. Choose an outing matched to your experience and confirm access before traveling.

HELPFUL ANSWERS

Vermont ski conditions FAQs

Where can I find current Vermont skiing conditions?

Start with the report links on this page, then check your chosen resort’s own operating information. Read the update time and current lift and terrain notes.

Is this page updated every morning?

This page links to external reports and displays the SkiCentral report when embedding is available. The providers control their update schedules; We Love Vermont does not promise a daily refresh.

Does new snowfall mean all trails are open?

No. Check the resort’s open-terrain and lift information. Snowfall totals alone do not confirm access to a particular trail or area.

Why do different reports show different numbers?

Check the timestamp, measurement location and reporting period. A 24-hour total, storm total and season total describe different things. Use the resort’s current report for its operating decisions.

What if the embedded snow report is blank?

Open SkiCentral directly using the button above or use a resort report link. Provider settings, browser privacy controls or connection issues can affect an embedded page.

Can I use these reports for cross-country skiing?

Check the Nordic center’s own trail and grooming report. Alpine snow and lift information is not a substitute for current Nordic trail status.

Where should I check road conditions?

Use New England 511 for regional road information, and confirm your exact route to the resort. Recheck close to departure when weather may affect travel.
