The Lake Champlain Byway traces the eastern shore of Lake Champlain and includes inland portions near and south of Middlebury. Along the way, the landscape opens to mountains, lake, valleys, towns and working farms. On the Champlain Islands, beautiful lake views appear around nearly every bend.
THE ROUTE
134 Miles of Classic Vermont
The byway runs along the northern length of Lake Champlain, using portions of U.S. Route 2 in the north and U.S. Route 7 through Chittenden County. In Middlebury, the byway splits and leaves Route 7.
