A Classic Drive Through the Green Mountains
The Green Mountain Byway runs along VT 100 through Waterbury and Stowe, with the spine of the northern Green Mountains to the west and the peaks of the Worcester Range to the east. The route combines mountain scenery with some of northern Vermont’s best-known villages and road-trip country.
THE ROUTE
11 Miles of Classic Vermont
The designated Green Mountain Byway follows Route 100 from Waterbury to Stowe. The larger scenic corridor reaches toward Morristown, Hyde Park, Johnson and Cambridge using Routes 100, 15A, 100C, 15 and 108, including the separately designated Smugglers’ Notch Scenic Highway.

Route 108 connects Cambridge and Stowe through dramatic Green Mountain terrain. The Smugglers’ Notch Scenic Highway is separately designated and adds one of the region’s most memorable mountain-road experiences to a Green Mountain Byway trip.
